Help With .zip Files

All the comics on my site are available for reading online or as a downloadable ZIP file. The ZIP file is a compressed file containing the comic. If you have a slow connection and don't want to wait for each page to load or if you want to read the comic when not connected to the internet, you might want to download it instead. Simply click the download link for the comic you want and save the ZIP file somewhere on your computer, then follow the instructions for your OS below.

WindowsXP - Simply open the ZIP file by double clicking it. Open up the folder with the name of the comics and double click on index.html. This will open the comics in your default web browser.

Windows2000 or older - If you're using Windows2000, Windows98, WindowsME or Windows NT I would recommend using WinRar. Download WinRAR (the top one on the list) and install it. Then take the ZIP file of the comics you've downloaded and right click it choosing Extract Here from the menu that pops up. You now have a folder with the name of the comics. Open the folder and double click on the index.html document. This should open the comics in your web browser.

Macintosh - Mac OS X comes with StuffIt Expander installed, so you don't need to download anything. For pre-OS X machines you can get StuffIt Expander here. Simply double click the ZIP file and StuffIt will extract it to a folder with the name of the comics. Depending on how you have set up Safari, the ZIP file may be extracted automatically once downloaded. Open the folder and double click on the index.html document. This should open the comics in your web browser.

Linux - If you're using Linux you're probably a computer geek and don't need any instructions.
